Tajikistan Attained Highest GDP Growth Among CIS Countries
DUSHANBE, 16.02.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan’ s 7.3% gross domestic product (GDP) increase was the highest among the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2018, according to CIS Statistical Committee. Tajikistan’s GDP amounted to 68.8 billion somoni ($7.3 billion).
Turkmenistan followed Tajikistan with an increase of 6.2% and Armenia closed the top three with its 6% growth rate. The overall growth rate of CIS was 2.2%.
Azerbaijan had the lowest growth rate of 1.4%, Russia’s was at 2.3% and Ukraine’s at 2.8 %.
Tajikistan was also among the three CIS leaders in terms of growth of industrial production. Uzbekistan (14.4%) led in this indicator. Tajikistan ranked second (11.8%) and Belarus was in the third place (5.7%). The growth rate was lower in Russia (2.9%), Azerbaijan (1.5%) and Ukraine (1.1%). The average growth of industrial production of CIS was 2.8%.
Economic growth exceeded the government’s previous estimates by 0.3%.
