Another Provocation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz Border
DUSHANBE, 22.07.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Press Center of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan reports that on July 22, while preparing for the working visit of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and his upcoming meeting with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, residents of the rural community Vorukh in Isfara were engaged in landscaping. In the process, they installed the state flag of Tajikistan on the territory of Vorukh.
At about 16:35 Kyrgyz citizens prevented this situation, digging the ground and installing the inscription Oksoy and the flag of their country. As Kyrgyz citizens carried out this act on the territory of Tajikistan, the residents of Vorukh began to oppose them. Conflict insued as a result.
Kyrgyz citizens began to throw stones and use firearms. As a result of the shooting one Tajik citizen, Karaev Jalol, was killed and three others were injured. Seven Tajik citizens were seriously injured and taken to a hospital.
Taking advantage of the moment, Kyrgyz citizens illegally blocked the Isfara-Vorukh road.
The event that took place in Isfara on the eve of the meeting of the heads of the two neighboring states shows that some interested Kyrgyz circles do not want peace and tranquility on the border line and persist in their provocations.
Currently, official representatives of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border agencies, and other relevant authorities of the two countries are at the scene of the incident.
