President Emomali Rahmon Visits the Baljuvon District

DUSHANBE, 06.08.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in the Baljuvon district of Khatlon to get further acquainted with the socio-economic development of the region and to participate in the opening ceremonies of various new buildings.

The first opening ceremony was for a new drinking water supply pipeline in the Kaltachanor village in the rural community of Tojikiston.  The drinking water line in this area is supplied by special pumps through a vertical 60-meter well that provides clean drinking water to more than 4,000 residents of Okhbuloq-1, Okhbuloq-2 and Solmolidasht villages.

Also in Kaltachanor, he attended the opening ceremony of the natural stone processing workshop,-Elegant Baljuvon, which was created to support the Period of Rural Development, Tourism, and Folk Crafts. Its processing capacity is estimated at 12,000 square meters, which is planned to be increased to 40,000 square meters in the future.

The head of state also attended the new 43-kilometer Kangurt-Baljuvon-Khovaling highway, which was constructed with the support of the government and a grant from the Asian Development Bank. The highway passes across six newly built bridges.

Besides the administrative center’s new square, President Emomali Rahmon participated in the opening ceremony of the administrative building of the office of the Agency for Labor and Employment of the Population, the new building of the department of the Migration Service of the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population, a new fire station, which employs nine firefighters, and a new service center Guliston, which includes within it a sewing workshop whose 20 employees produce school uniforms.

Next in the schedule was the opening ceremony of a kindergarten designed to accommodate 100 children. President Emomali Rahmon expressed his gratitude for the timely completion of the construction and spoke with the local teachers and educators.

The inspection of the newly built dormitory of the Secondary Educational Institution No. 1, which includes 36 rooms and 450 beds, was followed by a meeting with the local students.

From here, President Emomali Rahmon proceeded to the unveiling ceremony of a new sports hall, the construction of which started in 2017 and was financed by local entrepreneurs. This was followed by a meeting with local activists and residents of the district.

In the Sari Khosor rural community, President Emomali Rahmon began his tour in the village of Shaidon, where he attended the opening ceremony of Sari Khosor medicinal plant processing center, which was established by the Khujai Sabz farm in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan. The center produces medicinal oil from the region’s fruits and nuts, including bitter almonds, walnuts, pistachios, buckthorn, castor, and flax seeds. Its production capacity is 800 bottles and more than 100 liters of medicinal oil.

The processing plant is not the only new addition of the village.  The village now also has new sport grounds, a hotel, and a service center called Shaydon.

Closing his trip, President Emomali Rahmon visited the National Exhibition of Economic Achievements, which showcased agricultural products and craft works that reflect the ancient customs and traditions of the Tajik nation and held a constructive meeting with Sari Khosor residents and activists.

Summing up the results of socio-economic development of the district and the preparations for the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence, the head of state noted that as a newly established district, Baljuvon has become prosperous thanks to the efforts of the government and the involvement of local entrepreneurs and other generous residents of the region.

Expressing his satisfaction with the quality of the newly constructed objects, he called on the employees of the newly constructed facilities to work responsibly and selflessly for the benefit of the state and the Tajik nation, and emphasized that the  leadership of the relevant ministries and agencies and local executive bodies of state authority of the region must facilitate in the creation of manufacturing enterprises, efficiently use mineral resources, develop the light industry, processing of agricultural products and crafts and must further strengthen cooperation with the private sector.
