Intra-Syrian talks in Geneva to resume after May 20 — media
Dushanbe, 06.05.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The intra-Syrian talks in Geneva may resume no earlier than May 20 after the meeting of the International Syria Support Group set for May 17, TASS reported on Thursday quoting Russian diplomatic source.
“The resumption of the intra-Syrian talks is possible no earlier than May 20”, — the source said.
UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura has drafted a final document following the previous round of the Geneva talks, which took place between April 13 and 28.
De Mistura noted the round was held on the backdrop of escalation of the conflict in Syria and constant violations of the ceasefire regime. He urged Russia and the United States, as the co-chair of the International Syria Support Group, to help promote the ceasefire regime.
Russia and the US decided to introduce “regime of silence” from April 30 in the north of the Syrian province of Latakia for 72 hours and for 24 hours in East Ghouta.
The terms were prolonged and Aleppo province joined the regime later.
