Albania defeats Romania in EURO 2016 group stage match
Dushanbe, 20.06.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Albania’s national football team has defeated Romania 1-0 in a group stage match of the 2016 UEFA Euro Cup and took the third place in Group A.
According to TASS News Agency, the match was held in Lyon. Armando Sadiku shot a goal in the 43rd minute.
Albania’s team collected 3 points and took the third place in the group. France and Switzerland, which took the first and second places respectively, made it to the playoff.
Albanians have the chances to continue playing at the tournament, but they need to wait for the results of matches in other groups. The four best teams out of those who took third places in groups make it to the last 16. Romanians will leave the tournament having collected 1 point.
The playoff of the Euro Cup kicks off June 25.
The 2016 UEFA Euro Cup is held in France between June 10 and July 10 with matches played in 10 different locations, namely in Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.
A total of 24 European national teams qualified for the Euro Cup final tournament in 2016, after the contestants’ format, which was used since 1996, was decided to be extended from 16 to 24 teams.
