France won over Romania in EURO 2016 opener
Dushanbe, 11.06.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. France has beaten Romania 2-1 in the Euro 2016 opener on Friday.
According to TASS, the match was played at Stade de France stadium in Saint-Denis.
The goals were scored by France’s Olivier Giroud (57th minute) and Dimitri Payet (89th minute), and Romania’s Bogdan Stancu (65th minute).
The 2016 UEFA Euro Cup is held in France between June 10 and July 10 with matches played in 10 different locations, namely in Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.
A total of 24 European national teams qualified for the Euro Cup final tournament in 2016, after the contestants’ format, which was used since 1996, was decided to be extended from 16 to 24 teams.
The contesting teams were divided into six groups. Along with France and Romania, Group A included Switzerland and Albania that are to play on Saturday. France’s next game will be played with Albania in Marseille on June 15. Romania will play against Switzerland on the same day in Paris.
