UN secretary general declared Olympic truce during Rio Games
Dushanbe, 27.07.2016. /NIAT «Khovar»/. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has announced the «Olympic truce» during the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that will get underway on August 5, TASS reported.
In his video message posted on the organization’s website he called on all warring parties «to lay down their weapons and put aside their differences» during the Games.
The 2016 Summer Olympics, the first Games held in South America, will be held from August 5 to August 21. The Rio Paralympic Games will be held between September 7 and September 18.
