Lavrov, Mogherini agree to hold meeting on sidelines of international event
DUSHANBE, 04.02.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini have agreed to hold a personal meeting on the sidelines of one of the forthcoming international events, TASS reports citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The two diplomats «discussed the situation in Libya, problems of the Syrian settlement, current deterioration of the situation in Ukraine, and the situation in the Balkans,» the ministry said, adding that the conversation was initiated by Mogherini.
«The sides agreed to hold a meeting on the sidelines of one of the forthcoming multilateral events to discuss in detail possible cooperation on international and regional problems and on the overall situation in relations between Russia and the European Union,» the ministry said.
Among the immediate international events will be the Munich Security Conference due to take place from February 17 through 19. The Russian foreign minister plans to take part in this forum.
