Astana ready to host talks on Syria on March 14-15 — Kazakhstan’s foreign ministry
DUSHANBE, 13.03.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry continues preparations for hosting international talks on Syria on the pre-scheduled dates, TASS reported on Saturday citing the ministry’s spokesperson Anuar Jainakov.
«We keep working to prepare the upcoming meeting scheduled for March 14-15,» Jainakov said on the phone, adding there was no information that the talks were suspended.
Kazakhstan’s capital city Astana is due to play host to another international meeting on Syria on March 14-15. Earlier, the country’s foreign ministry said that the negotiations would bring together delegations from Russia, Turkey and Iran alongside representatives from the United Nations, United States and Jordan. Delegations of Syrian government and armed opposition are expected to confirm their participation in the meeting. Preliminary consultations are scheduled for March 14 and the participants’ plenary meeting is due to take place the next day, March 15.
