NBT Chairman Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda meets EBRD First Vice President Phillip Bennett
DUSHANBE, 29.03.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The issues to develop mutually bilateral cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan /NBT/ and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development /EBRD/ were discussed at the meeting of Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda, the Chairman of the NBT and Phillip Bennett, EBRD First Vice President — Customer Service group leader yesterday, March 27 here in Dushanbe. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the National Bank of Tajikistan.
According to the source, during the meeting the parties talked on the further expansion of relations in the area of the country’s banking system, including the improving of banking system situation, contribution to financing small and medium businesses, and creating new jobs.
J. Nurmahmadzoda drew the attention of EBRD representatives to the issues of funding and implementation of programs provided by the European Bank Fund for the supporting of the country’s banking system, and expressed his opinion on their using for supporting small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in remote mountainous regions, as well as on the strengthening of the monetary policy and etc.
Mr. Bennett, having spoken about reforms in the banking system of the Republic of Tajikistan, capitalization of mysterious banks, occurring crisis pressure on the system, solving the problems of banks, including tax problems, offered interesting proposals and recommendations for the further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of the country’s banking system.
It should be noted that during the meeting Phillip Bennett has also presented the newly-elected head of the EBRD Resident Office in Tajikistan Ms. Ayten Rustamova to the leadership of the NBT. He voiced confidence that cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in various areas of the economy, including the banking system, will be further continued and developed.
