Next round of Astana-hosted Syrian peace talks scheduled for May 3-4
DUSHANBE, 15.03.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. The next international meeting on Syria in Astana is scheduled for May 3-4, accoridng to the joint Russian, Turkish and Iranian statement following the Astana meeting read out by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Akylbek Kamaldinov.
«A new meeting on Syria will take place in Astana on May 3-4, while the expert consultations will be held in Tehran in April,» he said.
The document noted that trilateral high-level meetings will continue. «The Syrian government and representatives of the Syrian opposition, just like other observers, can be invited to these meetings,» the statement said.
According to TASS, the guarantor counties also expressed their gratitude to Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the country’s authorities for providing a venue for these international meetings.
