Darvaz’s flood-affected population received assistance
DUSHANBE, 11.07.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan provided 9 tons of foodstuffs assistance to 138 residents of the village of Khostav, jamoat Nulvand of Darvaz district.
According to the chief of the press center of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Umeda Yusupova, assistance included: 4 tons and 400 kg of flour, 660 liters of vegetable oil, 550 kg of rice, 550 kg of peas, 550 kg of sugar, 550 kg of buckwheat, as well as 66 hygiene bags, household sets and 110 food sets. The assistance was provided in the presence of the district commission headed by the district chairman.
We will recall that on July 8 at about 16:30 as a result of last heavy rain came down a landslide in jamoat Nulvand of village Khostav of Darvaz district GBAO, which blocked the riverbed of Pyanj river, resulting in water flooding of houses.
