Tajik athlete Behruz Khojazoda became world champion in sambo
DUSHANBE, 13.11.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Tajik athlete Behruz Khojazoda won gold medal of the Sochi World Sambo Championship in the weight category up to 74 kg. Behruz Khojazoda after more than 40 years won gold medal for Tajikistan in sambo. In the final battle, Tajik fighter defeated Belarusian Stepan Popov.
Another famous Tajik athlete Akmaliddin Karimov (up to 57 kg) won a silver medal of the World Championship. Sorbon Latifov (up to 62 kg) and Zafar Olimshoev (up to 82 kg) have won bronze medals.
Also, Nabimuhammad Khorkashev (over 100 kg) won the silver medal of championship, losing to the Russian Artek Osipenko in the final battle.
800 athletes from 90 countries attended the Sochi World Championships. 27 sets of medals were played in the 9 weight categories in sports and combat sambo.
The 2017 World Sambo Championship, which took place at the ice palace “Iceberg” in Sochi, was completed on Sunday.
We will recall that the 2018 World Sambo Championship will be held in Romania.
