Tajikistan’s Academy of Sciences will host International Scientific and Practical Conference “Water for Sustainable Development of Central Asia”
DUSHANBE, 16.03.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Water for Sustainable Development of Central Asia” will be held on March 24-25 at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, the conference will be devoted to the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”, announced by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The main goal of the conference is to exchange information and experience on the rational use of water resources, ensuring the sustainable development of Central Asia in the context of climate change.
During the conference, the participants plan to discuss issues of rational use and protection of water resources, to monitor glaciers, cryosphere, to address the problems of hydropower and the safety of hydraulic structures, the interconnection of water, energy, food and ecology, innovative approaches: GIS technologies, remote sensing, water and energy-saving technologies, as well as problems of climate change and natural disasters related to water.
According to the source, the issues of water cooperation, education and science will also be relevant at the conference.
It is planned that the conference will be attended by scientists from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
