Behruz Khojazoda brought to Tajikistan the second medal at the 2018 Summer Asian Games
DUSHANBE, 30.08.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Tajik athlete Behruz Khojazoda won a silver medal at the 2018 Summer Asian Games on wrestling “kurash”. At the weight category up to 81 kg he met in the final with the Iranian athlete Ali Akbari Elias. Unfortunately, Tajik athlete lost the fight for gold, but his silver helped Tajikistan to rise on the 30th position in the overall medal standings.
On the way to the final, Behruz Khojazoda left no chance for his rivals, with the same result of 10-0. Muso Sobirov (Uzbekistan), Niang Chunta (Taiwan) and Omid Tastak (Iran) were defeated.
In this weight category, there was another athlete from Tajikistan — Akmal Murodov, who won the fights with Bui Min Kwan (Vietnam) and Kasem Mohammad (Syria), but lost the fight for the semi-final to the Uzbek kurashist Sarvar Shomurodov.
Behruz weighs 73 kg, but the program of the Summer Asian Games after 66 kg includes a category of 81 kg.
Today, Behruz will perform in the Judo discipline in his weight category — up to 73 kg.
We will recall that this is the second medal of Tajikistan at the Asian Games. The first medal was brought by Olympic champion Dilshod Nazarov, who became the silver medalist of the Asian Games that are taking place in Indonesia these days.
