CIS Heads of State Council meeting continues in “Kokhi Somon”
DUSHANBE, 28.09.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States /CIS/ continues in the government residence, “Kokhi Somon”, Dushanbe city, NIAT “Khovar” correspondent Mavjuda ANVARI reports.
The meeting began under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Leader of the Nation warmly and sincerely welcomed all participants in Tajikistan, as well as wished them success and a pleasant stay in our sunny country.
Then the Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev reported on the results of the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan for this period and highly appreciated the results of its activity.
During the meeting, the heads of state exchanged views on topical issues of the international situation and mutual integration within the framework of the Commonwealth. Also, the meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the development and strengthening of cooperation in the main areas of CIS activities.
We will recall that Tajikistan has chaired the CIS over the past year. On 12th October 2017, in Sochi, at a regular meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council it was decided to transfer the CIS chairmanship in 2018 to Tajikistan.
The regular meeting of the Council of CIS heads of state is attended by the heads of state of Azerbaijan — Ilham Aliyev, Armenia — Nikol Pashinyan, Belarus — Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakhstan — Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kyrgyzstan — Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Moldova — Igor Dodon, Uzbekistan — Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Russia — Vladimir Putin and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Purli Agamyradow.
About 500 foreign and domestic journalists gathered in the “Kokhi Somon” press center to cover this important political event.
