Dushanbe hosted XXXI meeting of the Consultative Council on Labor, Migration and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS member states
DUSHANBE, 22.09.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. XXXI meeting of the Consultative Council on Labor, Migration and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS member states was held yesterday, September 21 at the Dushanbe-Plaza State Complex, NIAT “Khovar” correspondent reported.
The meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the bodies for labor, employment and social protection of the Commonwealth countries.
During the meeting, about 16 issues, in particular, the results of cooperation of the Commonwealth countries in the social and labor sphere and tasks for the future, as well as the social and labor situation in the states and the measures taken in this area were discussed. It was presented successful practices in the system of social services in the CIS countries.
In addition, during the meeting, the fulfilling of the Action Plan for the implementation of the third stage (2016-2020) of the Strategy for the Economic Development of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the period up to 2020 was considered. Among them was the exchange of information, methodological, regulatory and legal materials and the development of common principles of professional standards of the Commonwealth.
No less important issue on the agenda was the implementation of priority measures to create a common labor market and regulate labor migration for 2017-2020, approved by the decision of the Economic Council of the CIS of 17th March 2017.
The members of the Council also discussed the initiatives of the Working Group to the draft of the General Principles of Cooperation of the CIS member states in providing employment opportunities for certain groups of people who have difficulties in finding work.
In addition, the meeting participants and representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission discussed the issues of labor migration of the EAEU and prospects for a single labor market.
It was noted that the Consultative Council on Labor, Migration and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS member states is one of the oldest bodies of sectoral cooperation within the Commonwealth. It was established in 1992 to promote the development of a coherent policy in the field of labor relations and social partnership, labor protection, interaction in addressing labor migration and employment problems, social protection of the population and protecting the health of citizens exposed to radiation. The Council carries out its activities in close cooperation with the CIS Executive Committee.
The Council is engaged in the development and review of draft of multilateral international treaties, integrated programs and other documents on matters within the competence of the Council; participated in the creation of drafts of model laws and recommendations in the social and labor sphere and considered issues related to labor migration, employment, labor protection and social protection of the population; substantiated and developed principles and criteria for determining the status of persons exposed to radiation. The Council also contributes to the development of methodological approaches and recommendations for the formation of a common labor market, mutually agreed social standards and basic levels of rehabilitation and health protection for citizens exposed to radiation, as well as members of their families. The Council may be entrusted with other tasks and functions defined by the Council of CIS Heads of Government.
