OSCE ODIHR MEETING. Tajikistan opposed double standards in relation to terrorist organizations
DUSHANBE, 11.09.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The human dimension implementation meeting, held annually by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), was held on September 10 in Warsaw.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, a delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan led by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nizomiddin Zohidi took part in its work.
N. Zohidi in his speech stressed the importance of peace, stability and national unity of the people of Tajikistan for the development of the national economy and the strengthening of the state system based on the principles of social justice, ensuring human and civil rights and freedoms, the rule of law and the legal order.
“For the years of independence, opponents of the legal, democratic and secular system in Tajikistan from among extremist criminal elements, primarily members of the TEO IRP, repeatedly tried to destabilize the situation in the country. However, the people of Tajikistan gave a worthy repulse to the TEO IRP, its henchmen in the country and inspirers from abroad. The failures of attempts to destabilize the situation in Tajikistan are the result of ensuring the rule of law and the legal order, protecting human rights and freedoms, the interests of the state and society in Tajikistan”, — N. Zohidi said.
It was emphasized Tajikistan’s commitment to its obligations within the framework of the common struggle for strengthening of peace and security, protection of human rights and freedoms.
Pointing to the expansion of the activities of international terrorism and extremism, the activation of radical elements, the involvement of young people in the ranks of extremist and terrorist organizations and their participation in armed conflicts in foreign states, the head of Tajik delegation stressed that often in assessing the activities and goals of individual terrorist groups, the interests of certain forces prevail, as a result of which terrorists are divided into good and bad, and double standards are applied to them under the umbrella of protection of human rights.
It was noted that Tajikistan has always advocated and supports the active participation of civil society in meetings on the human dimension, but considers that the participation of political parties and movements accused in the OSCE states of committing serious crimes and terrorist acts, preaching the ideology of violence and religious intolerance is unacceptable. As an example of such parties was named the TEO IRP, whose involvement in terrorist activities in Tajikistan was confirmed by numerous evidence and testimonies.
In this regard, N. Zohidi called on states-participants to reform existing ODIHR rules and procedures on civil society participation in human dimension implementation meetings in order to prevent the use of the OSCE platform to advance the destructive goals of criminal elements.
