DUSHANBE, 25.02.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The 4th Regional Meeting of the Heads of Border Agencies of the Central Asian Region of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held tomorrow in Dushanbe, reported the head of the Press Center of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Muhammad Ulugkhojaev.

“Participants will discuss the issues relating to enhancing of cooperation of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops with the working structures of international and regional organizations in order to increase the effectiveness of countering new challenges and threats to the border security,” said Ulugkhojaev.

Also on the meeting’s agenda is the development of new measures to counter the threats to CIS borders from the territory of Afghanistan.

Additionally, an international, scientific and practical conference is planned focusing on the effective resistance to the manifestations of international terrorism, extremism, drug smuggling, illegal migration and human trafficking as the main threats to border security at the external borders of CIS member states.

Representatives of border agencies and educational institutions of CIS member states, as well as other relevant authorities of the commonwealth and international organizations are invited to attend the conference.
