(NIAT Khovar) – Per instructions and orders of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, 84 Tajik minors were repatriated from Iraq to Tajikistan, reports NIAT Khovar’s correspondent from the Dushanbe International Airport.
The children were met by the Assistant to the President of Tajikistan for Social Development and Public Relations Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Muzaffar Huseinzoda, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Tajikistan Rajabmo Habibullozoda, among others.
“With the support of the government of Tajikistan and in cooperation with the relevant structures, 84 Tajik minors were taken by special flight from Baghdad to Dushanbe, and this work will continue,” said the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Tajikistan Rajabmo Habibullozoda.
The issue related to returning Tajik citizens, especially minors, from war-torn countries like Iraq and Syria is under the scrutiny of President Emomali Rahmon.
The issue of repatriating Tajik children from these countries was discussed by Tajik and Iraqi officials. Ambassador of Tajikistan to Iraq (with residence in Kuwait) Zubaidullo Zubaidzoda met with Husom Abdukarim Yusuf, member of the Supreme Court of Iraq, and Hazem al-Yusufi, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged their views on bilateral cooperation in the field of security and combating terrorism and extremism, as well as the participation of the Iraqi side in the High-Level Conference International and Regional Cooperation in Combating Terrorism and Its Financing, including drug trafficking and organized crime,” which will be held on May 16-17 this year in Dushanbe.
“All Tajik children, citizens of Tajikistan, will be returned from Iraq and Syria to their homeland,” said the Minister of
Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin earlier this year at a press conference in Dushanbe.
“There are 43 Tajik women in Iraqi prisons. It takes time and much effort to return them home,” noted Muhriddin.
