DUSHANBE, 17.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – “Tajikistan is leading by a vivid example by repatriating its minors from Iraq and Syria. Kazakhstan also, in spite of the personal mistakes of all who left for Syria, repatriates its ‘prodigal children’,» said the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Stanislav Vasilenko, who is in Dushanbe to attend the high-level conference called the International and Regional Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism and its Financing Sources, Including Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime today in Dushanbe.
Since the beginning of 2019, 278 Kazakh citizens have been repatriated. The repatriation of Kazakh citizens from Syria will continue, said Vasilenko.
“Today’s conference in Tajikistan is important and relevant for the entire world community. International terrorism poses a serious threat to security, stability and socio-economic development. Therefore, in order to effectively counter international terrorism, a long-term and comprehensive approach is required, which involves the active participation of all UN member states in this process in accordance with the UN Charter and international law,” noted Vasilenko.
