CAFA President Rustam Emomali Appoints Association’s New Secretary General
DUSHANBE, 02.09.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – By order of the president of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Rustami Emomali, the head of the department of the national teams of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, 31-year-old Ulugbek Karimov was appointed CAFA’s new Secretary General, reported the Football Federation of Tajikistan.
Ulugbek Karimov replaced an Uzbek specialist Sanjar Rizaev who in turn joined the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Karimov has been working for the Football Federation of Tajikistan since 2013.
CAFA thanked Sanjar Rizayev for the joint fruitful work and the successes achieved and wished him good luck in his work at the AFC.
Founded in June 2014, CAFA is one of five zones of the AFC. CAFA unites football federations of six countries, Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
During last CAFA Congress, which was held on April 24, president of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali was elected as CAFA’s new president. After his election, CAFA’s headquarters moved to Dushanbe.
In July and August of this year, CAFA U-16 and U-19 Championships were successfully held in Dushanbe, the winners of which were the teams of Tajikistan and Iran.
