Festive Events Celebrating the 28th Anniversary of State Independence Held in GBAO
DUSHANBE, 09.09.2019. (NIAT Khovar) — Festive events in honor of the 28th anniversary of state independence were held in Khorog, the administrative center of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Mahmadtohir Zokirzoda and GBAO Chairman Yodgor Fayzov attended the events.
Before the events, Zokirzoda and Fayzov laid flowers at the grave of the Hero of Tajikistan Shirinsho Shotemur.
Then, a cultural event in honor of independence was held in Khorog’s cultural and recreation park.
While delivering speech, Zokirzoda congratulated GBAO residents on the 28th anniversary of independence of Tajikistan.

Fayzov in his speech noted that GBAO has achieved significant socio-economic achievements over 28 years of independence and thanks to the wise policy of President Emomali Rahmon, the autonomous region has significantly changed.
“Pride and happiness lie in the fact that the fate of the country is in our hands, and each resident devotes his life in the name of freedom and prosperity to the land of his ancestors. I congratulate all compatriots with Independence Day. I wish every Tajik family happiness and prosperity,” said Fayzov.
Civil servants, veterans and representatives of other sectors of society were awarded state awards on behalf of President Emomali Rahmon.

The colorful cultural program presented by artists of GBAO’s various areas gave the holiday a unique flavor.
An exhibition showcasing agricultural products, folk crafts and achievements of the country’s during the period of its independence wad organized in Khorog’s cultural and recreation park.

In addition, a scientific-practical conference ‘State Independence and Awareness of Patriotic Responsibility’ was organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, which was attended by Zokirzoda, Fayzov and other local government representatives.
The conference was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Head of the Interdepartmental Staff for Security Abdurahmon Alamshozoda, who spoke about the country’s achievements in the period of independence and about the progress made in the legal sphere.
During the conference, Zokirzoda, Fayzov, scientists and students also delivered speeches to the audience.
Also, during Zokirzoda’s working trip to GBAO, he attended the comissioning of a modern hotel, which was built by the domestic entrepreneur Noyobsho Noyobshoev in honor of the 28th anniversary of state independence.
Festive events in honor of Independence Day are taking place in all cities and districts of the country.
