Tajik and Uzbek Specialists Held Joint Aero-Visual Observation of the Shing River Basin
DUSHANBE, 30.09.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The specialists of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD), the Tajik Hydrometeorological Agency, the Main Directorate of Geology, the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Emergencies of Uzbekistan and the State Committee for Geology of Uzbekistan held a joint aero-visual observation of the Shing River basin on September 28.
The event was held in order to implement an intergovernmental agreement between the governments of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on cooperation in the field of emergency prevention and response, reported the Press Center of the CESCD.
The main purpose of the observation was to organize timely and effective work to protect the population and territories from emergency situations associated with landslides, floods, mudflows and snow avalanches.
Specialists held an aero-visual reconnaissance of mountain and foothill areas to clarify the volume of snow accumulation, assess the status of high-altitude breakout hazardous lakes, as well as tp carry out ongoing monitoring and prediction of the dynamics of the development of hydrometeorological situations and geological processes in these areas.
