OSCE Ambassadors Visit Tajikistan’s Drug Control Agency
DUSHANBE, 08.10.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The OSCE ambassadors visited yesterday the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan in order to get acquainted with the anti-drug policy of the country’s government.
The agency’s director Sherkhon Salimzoda informed the guests about the state of drug control in the republic and the region, agency’s activities, directions and trends, its achievements and long-term plans.
The OSCE ambassadors assessed the initiatives of the government of Tajikistan in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and their precursors.
It was noted that it is necessary to take measures to build the capacity of the Tajik law enforcement agencies that could effectively counteract transnational organized crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking and cybercrime.
The OSCE ambassadors also noted the importance of the agency’s proposals to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking in Tajikistan and the region, as well as expressed their willingness to support the agency and the implementation of anti-drug initiatives of Tajikistan, which requires joint effort by the entire international community.
