Russian PM Medvedev Meets with Heads of CIS State News Agencies
MOSCOW, 26.11.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev met with the heads of CIS State News Agencies.
Medvedev’s meeting took place as part of the 27th meeting of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Kovar’s director Saidali Siddiq also attended the meeting.
The meeting centered on the planning of the photo exhibition and 75th ceberation of the victory in the WWII. “This is our common holiday, for the sake of which our peoples had to defend the right to life of future generations. We cannot allow ourselves to forget about the great feat of the people who emerged victorious in the bloodiest war in the history of mankind,” said Mikhailov.
“News agencies have creative and technical potential which allows to convey to the younger generation history, knowledge and values, and the memory of the heroism of our citizens, and the atrocities of fascism,” emphasized Mikhailov.
“TASS is preparing a large-scale photo exhibition “Press at War,» which will include photos taken by the agencies’ correspondents as well as archived photographs,” informed the council’s Chairman.
He invited his colleagues to join its organization and assist in the search for rare wartime chronicles. The exhibition will be held at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow.
Belarusian BelTA General Director Irina Akulovich emphasized her readiness to take part in the TASS project. She reported that dozens of unique photos had already been forwarded to TASS.
AzerTAc Chairman Board Aslan Aslanov noted the unifying role of the Victory Day.
“The victory in the Great Patriotic War is a common one for all the nations that we united in the former USSR, and each nation has contributed to this victory, including the Azerbaijani people,” said Aslanov.
“AzerTAc is working to collect archival material focusing on the war’s participants,” noted Aslanov.
Aslanov proposed to hold the council’s next meeting in Baku in connection with the upcoming AzerTAc’s 100th anniversary in 2020.
Director of the Armenian Armenpress Aram Ananyan spoke about the information and search work in preparation for the Victory Day’s celebration.
According to him, the agency has located rare photos of more than 60 soldiers and officers from different USSR republics taken at the fronts.
The meeting’s honorary guest, UzA’s General Director Abdusaid Kuchimov of Uzbekistan recalled his country’s contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
“The 75th anniversary of Victory Day will be one of the main topics of our agency in the coming year,” said Kuchimov.
