Health Ministry Cautions Citizens Against Visiting Certain Chinese Regions Due to the Coronavirus Outbreak
DUSHANBE, 23.01.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan has sent official letters to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Committee for Tourism Development with a request to limit the working and personal trips of the citizens to the Chinese regions with registered coronavirus cases.
Immediately after reports of the new 2019-nCoV virus, Tajik government authorities have tightened control at airports and at all border checkpoints.
“There are sanitary quarantine services on the border line. In such emergencies — with the spread of dangerous viruses — control has been tightened, and quarantine services switch to a round-the-clock mode of operation. Modern diagnostic equipment is now installed at the airports, and any passenger arriving from China undergoes a mandatory medical examination. In case the virus is detected, the person is sent to an infectious diseases hospital in a special vehicle for further treatment,” said the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of Population Mirhamuddin Kamolzoda.
Recall that the Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission confirmed that the new 2019-nCoV virus can be transmitted from person to person. So far, most of the cases detected are in Wuhan (Hubei Province, Central China). Meanwhile, cases have also been registered in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong Province, with the common denominator of all patients being that they had all previsouly visited Wuhan. It is reported that a new disease has spread beyond China, with infections reported in Thailand, South Korea, Japan and the US.
The main symptoms of a new disease are fever, fatigue, a dry cough, or with slight sputum. Patients may experience shortness of breath or tightness in the chest. In all patients, the x-ray showed pneumonia.
The WHO announced an emergency meeting in connection with the spread of the new disease, which the Chinese authorities warned about in December 31. It was held yesterday. The organization said that the source of the virus was animals. Chinese authorities linked the outbreak to the Wuhan seafood market.
