China Is the Biggest Investor in Tajik Economy
DUSHANBE, 12.02.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – China is the main leader in terms of direct investments in the Tajik economy in 2019. This statement was made by the Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan Farrukh Hamralizoda, reports Sputnik news agency.
In total, Tajikistan received foreign investments amounting to $ 346 million, which is 6% higher than in 2018.
“China is the leader in investments. The total amount of Chinese investments in 2019 is $ 262.3 million,” Hamralizoda noted.
The flow of Russian direct investments to Tajikistan amounted to $ 33.1 million. Investments from the UK totalled $13.9 million, and Turks invested $13.5 million into Tajik economy.
Hamralizoda noted that seven investment agreements worth $247.6 million were signed in 2019. The implementation of the projects provides for the creation of eight new manufacturing enterprises.
“To date, 65 projects are underway in Tajikistan. Their total value is more than $3.3 billion. Of these, $16.9 billion are loan funds,” Hamralizoda said.
According to him, the share of the government of Tajikistan in projects is about 1.4 billion somoni ($ 150 million), and from other sources 190.7 million somoni ($ 19 million).
