President Emomali Rahmon Made Personnel Changes in the Judiciary
DUSHANBE, 07.02.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with the newly-appointed judges.
Over 150 judies have been appointed to senior positions in the country’s judicial system. During the meeting, President Rahmon focused on the rule of law, the fight against corruption, transparency, fair trial rights in criminal proceedings and ensuring fairness and honesty.
“During this period we make changes and additions to the normative legal acts related to compliance of the legislation with international legal acts and the requirements of the time and gradually implementing reform in order to ensure transparency and independence of judiciary,» said Rahmon.
It was also emphasized that judges, as competent representative of the state, must observe professional moral values in protecting human rights and freedoms and fulfill their duties with great responsibility.
He also added that the involvement of judges and court officials in corruption offenses is the most serious inadmissibility and a great cause for concern.
The head of state noted that the leadership of the Supreme Court and the Supreme Economic Court are obliged to take additional measures to ensure effective selection and placement of personnel.
Following the meeting, President Rahmon wished success to the newly- appointed officials in the performance of their official duties and emphasized once again that protecting the rights and freedoms of the citizenry is their primary duty.
