Tajik Citizens Will Be Evacuated from Caronavirus Epicenter
DUSHANBE, 06.02.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The issue of evacuating 58 Tajik citizens from Wuhan is currently under discussion. The government is planning to evacuate the 58 Tajik citizens that are currently in the Chinese city, said the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda.
“At present, we have designated permanent headquarters for the prevention of the coronavirus. As of this morning, 645 people, who have returned from China to Tajikistan, including 47 Chinese citizens, are under quarantine. To date, no evidence of the coronavirus infection has been recorded in the country,” Olimzoda said.
According to him, comprehensive preventive and preparatory measures have been put in place in order to ensure sanitary and epidemiological safety within the country.
“At present, 2 to 5 health workers and epidemiologists are working around the clock at 27 large and small checkpoints operating on the border with neighboring countries. Currently, Dushanbe and Khujand international airports are equipped with necessary equipment such as thermal imagers and thermal scanners, which are used on every person entering Tajikistan,” Olimzoda added.
According to the WHO Country Office Manager for Tajikistan Galina Perfilieva, over 28,000 people in the world have been infected with the coronavirus, with 565 resulting deaths.
