Deputy PM Ibrohim Meets with Special Representative of the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Lorot
DUSHANBE, 06.03.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim met with the Special Representative of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France for the economic diplomacy in Central Asia Pascal Lorot.
Ibrohim drew Lorot’s attention to attracting French investments into several areas of the Tajik economy, including tourism development.
While considering that 93% of Tajikistan is mountains, the parties noted the advisability of involving the French Claster mountain company, which has vast experience in organizing infrastructure in mountainous conditions.
The French expressed interest in developing further cooperation of entities working in this direction.
“There are currently dozens of French companies in Tajikistan, and the current level of attracting French investment in the Tajik economy does not meet the requirements and capabilities of the parties, and we are obliged to use more opportunities in this direction,” Ibrohim said.
While recalling the achievements of Tajikistan, Lorot noted that the stability of existing laws and the Tax Code, ensuring the stability of the investment climate, can be a good basis and guarantee for attracting more investors.
Lorot accepted Ibrohim’s proposal to consider opportunities for cooperation in the fields of light (textile and footwear industry from domestic raw materials), food industry, oil and gas.
The French side expressed its readiness to establish close cooperation with the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan in order to attract investors into the Tajik economy within the framework of the developed priority projects.
