Members of Terrorist Organization Detained in Tashkent
DUSHANBE, 26.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Interior Ministry and the State Security Service of Uzbekistan conducted a joint operation, during which the activities of members of the international terrorist organization Tavhid va Jihod Katibasi which clandestinely acted in the capital and the Tashkent region were exposed.
Reportedly, these persons fell under the influence of another Uzbek citizen acting in the ranks of the said organization, along with an international terrorist organization in Syria, as well as his followers, discussing videos of an extremist nature in order to commit hijrah and jihad. They planned to go to Syria, the Uzbek Internal Ministry said.
It is noted that among these individuals, three had previously been incarcerated for committing a crime related to terrorism and extremism.
As part of the criminal case, a search was conducted in Almazar, Uchtepa, Chilanzar, Yakkasaray and Sergeli districts of the capital, and the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region, as a result of which 25 people have been detained.
In the places of residence of the detained persons material evidence was found and seized by the officers. The investigative is ongoing.
The activities of this international terrorist organization are prohibited in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia.
