Saudi Arabia Cancels the Hajj for Foreigners
DUSHANBE, 23.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Saudi Arabia authorities have decided to cancel the Hajj to Muslim shrines in Mecca and Medina due to COVID-19 pandemic, reports the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
According to the source, this year the Hajj will be held with the participation of a small number of people who are living in Saudi Arabia.
Earlier in February, the Saudi authorities announced a decision to temporarily close the entrance to Mecca and Medina due to the pandemic.
In 2020, the Hajj will take place in late July. Every year, over 3 million Muslims participate in the ceremony, more than 2 million of whom travel from abroad.
