Visiting Polish Doctors Among the Most Experienced in the Fight Against COVID-19
DUSHANBE, 10.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Polish physicians who are currently in Tajikistan, are one of the most experienced doctors in the field of prevention and treatment of COVID-19. They have experience working in Italy during the peak of the pandemic, as well as in Poland and Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by WHO representatives during a virtual press conference that they held yesterday in Geneva.
Polish doctors arrived in Dushanbe as part of WHO’s team of specialists, bringing with them mobile laboratories for the diagnosis of coronavirus infection.
“We are very grateful to Poland for their solidarity and willingness to help. Among the arrivals are anesthesiologists, infectious disease specialists, nurses, paramedics and humanitarian workers. For three weeks, they will work hand in hand with Tajik colleagues, treat patients with severe COVID-19, and prevent the spread of infection. In the coming days, at the request of the Tajik government, laboratory diagnostics specialists from Germany, Russia and the UK will also come to help,” said the interim head of the WHO Office in Tajikistan Bakhtigul Karrieva.
“Ambulance teams and mobile laboratories will help expand the country’s ability to fight COVID-19, including in the most remote areas. Specialists will also help identify and isolate infected people, track those with whom they have been in contact, carry out medical sorting of patients and refer them to the right specialists, as well as select effective treatment,” said a staff member at the WHO European Bureau Oleg Storozhenko.
