Construction of Longest Underground Passage in Central Asia Finally Complete

DUSHANBE, 03.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, as part of President Emomali Rahmon’s working trip to Sughd an underground passage was officially opened in Khujand with the participation of President’s Assistant for Social Development and Public Relations Affairs Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda and the region’s Chairman Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, reported the Khujad Chairman’s Press Secretary Mamur Yusufov.

The project which was designed by SANIIOSP Research Institute was built by a local entrepreneur Murtazo Aliyev and cost 20 million somoni.

The total area of the allocated land is 5054.4 square meters, with its length and width at 260 and 18 meters respectively. The passage has ten entrances.

“This is the longest underground passage in Tajikistan and Central Asian as a whole,” said Yusufov.

Over 60 local builders took part in the construction work that began in 2018.
