GDP for First Six Months Reached 32.4 Billion Somoni

DUSHANBE, 23.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The country’s gross domestic product in the last six months amounted to 32.4 billion somoni, and its real growth was 3.5%. This information was provided by the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda.
According to him, the growth of GDP during this period was ensured by an increase in industrial production — by 9.2% and agricultural products — 8.2%.
As a result of the implementation of a balanced monetary policy through the use of monetary instruments, the inflation rate in January through June was 4.3%, which is 0.3% more than in the same period last year.
The current inflation was mainly due to the influence of the coronavirus pandemic, accompanied on the one hand by the closures, on the other hand, by the restrictions of the movement of goods across the borders of a number of countries and an increase in the prices of a number of products in world markets.
