Prosecutor’s Office Reports Decreased Crimes Rates
DUSHANBE, 14.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Crime rates have decreased by 2% compared to the same period last year. In the last six months, 12,293 crimes have been registered, which is 256 cases less than last year. This information was stated at a press conference by the Prosecutor General Yusuf Rahmon.
He also noted that crime detection currently is at 80.7%. The commission of certain categories of crimes has increased, while other types, on the contrary, have decreased. In particular, the number of murders and attempted murders totalled 48 cases in the first half of last year, while this year that number has decreased by 13.
“Additionally, this year there are 56 cases of acts of intentional bodily harm, while last year there were 62. This type of crime has decreased by 9.6%,” Rahmon said.
According to statistics, crimes such as robbery and fraud are also on a decline.
Meanwhile, the rate of human trafficking cases has remained unchanged at 10.
The Prosecutor’s Office has investigated 1,903 criminal cases during this period, of which 1,788 have been sent to court. During the investigation, 47.4 million somoni has been recovered, including 5.8 million somoni in favor of the state.
Rahmon noted that during inspections 1,935 people have been fined, with 157 individuals charged with disregarding the law on responsibility of parents for the education and upbringing of children.
