SCO Health Ministries Continue Cooperation in Fight Against COVID-19

DUSHANBE, 25.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – In order to ensure the health and well-being of the population, SCO member states will continue to collaborate in fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. This was stated in the joint final statement of the third Meeting of Ministers of Health of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states signed on July 24.
As part of the Russian chairmanship in 2020, yesterday, the third meeting of SCO health ministers was held via videoconference.
Russian, Indian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Chinese, Pakistani, Tajik and Uzbek health ministers attended the meeting which focused on two key issues, — the review of the current situation in the SCO member states relating to the development of COVID-19 and the adoption of a review of advanced measures taken by the SCO member states to counter the spread of the virus.
Tajikistan was represented by the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Ghafur Muhsinzoda who gave an overview of the current situation in Tajikistan relating to the pandemic.
Health specialists paid much attention to the adoption of the final statement of the third meeting, which reads in particular: “We acknowledge with deep concern that the pandemic requires a global response based on unity, solidarity and intensified cooperation of the SCO member states.»
