DUSHANBE, 04.08.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan has not yet introduced restrictions on electricity supply, said the Spokesman for Barki Tojik .
He noted that indeed, according to average annual indicators, the water levels in Tajikistan are low, especially in the Vakhsh River, which is the main source of water for electricity generation in the country.
“This is due to the small reserves of snow at the headwaters of the country’s rivers. In order to provide the population with electricity, per government’s instruction Barki Tojik terminated the contract for the export of electricity to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan ahead of schedule,” Yodgori mentioned.
“Fortunately, the channel of the Vakhsh River today contributes to the daily inflow of water and its reservation in the required volumes in the reservoir of the Norak HPP for the coming winter. Barki Tojik specialists are confident that the reservoir will be filled with water to the required level by mid-September and there will be no need to impose restrictions on electricity supply thereafter,” Yodgori said.
Along with this, it is very important that the population, in response to the government’s address to the nation, continues to use electricity rationally.
“Each kilowatt / hour of saved electricity will provide the population with electricity in the coming winter period,” he noted.
