DUSHANBE, 18.11.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan has climbed eight positions in the 2020 Legatum Prosperity Index landing in 112th place, according to the British analytical organization Legatum Institute.
“Twelve indicators were taken into account to calculate the prosperity index: security, personal freedom, governance, social capital, investment climate, business conditions, access to market and infrastructure, economic quality, living conditions of people, health, education and natural environment,” said the head of media relations at the Legatum Institute Frederica Arrowswitz on November 16.
According to her, there is progress in social capital in Tajikistan based on personal and family relationships. In other words, there are strong family ties in Tajikistan, — relatives are always ready to help. This, in turn, helps to reduce the level of poverty in the country.
The 2020 Legatum Prosperity Index marks Tajikistan’s success in terms of investment climate and business conditions.
Denmark ranks first, followed by Norway and Switzerland. Russia is 76th place and Belarus is in 69th. South Sudan in 167th place has the worst indicators of prosperity.
According to index experts, the pandemic has significantly affected the well-being of all countries, but the world as a whole has shown an overall positive trend towards prosperity over the past decade.
The indicators are based on statistical analysis, sociological research and expert assessments of survey participants. The statistics used in the ranking are sourced from the United Nations, World Bank, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, World Trade Organization, Gallup, Economist Intelligence Unit, IDC, Pyramid Research and other institutions.
The Index’s editorial board includes representatives from a number of leading universities and research centers. A detailed description of the methodology for forming the index and data sources for it is given in the annual release of the rating based on the results of the next comparative study.
