Putin Notes the Role of Tajikistan in Containing Threats From Neighboring Countries

DUSHANBE, 03.12.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Russia, together with Tajikistan, will continue to curb the infiltration of terrorists and drugs from neighboring countries. This was stated by the Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
“I would like to note the special role of Tajikistan in curbing threats from neighboring countries, I mean, of course, the penetration of drugs and terrorists. Here Tajikistan is doing tremendous positive work. We will continue to do this together with you, helping, among other things, using our capabilities to the Russian military structure located on the territory of Tajikistan,” Putin assured.
Putin noted that Russia will continue to support Tajikistan in security issues, helping using the capabilities of the Russian military structure.
A meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held yesterday under the chairmanship of President Putin via videoconference.
The meeting focused on allied interaction within the organization and further efforts to improve the efficiency of the CSTO, as well as on current issues of international and regional security.
The meeting was attended by President Emomali Rahmon, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Acting President of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov.
