DUSHANBE, 12.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Last year, over 350,000 tourists visited Tajikistan. This information was provided today by the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Tojiddin Jurazoda at a press conference.
“This statistic shows that in 2020 the number of foreign citizens visiting Tajikistan decreased by 909,100 or 69% compared to the same period in 2019, and the number of tourists decreased by 72.2% or 906,900 people,” Jurazoda noted.
The decline in the number of tourists visiting Tajikistan is primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in the closure state borders and international roads in many countries since March 2020.
