Dushanbe Hosts 19th Session of the Council of Heads of CIS Supreme Audit Bodies

DUSHANBE, 27.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Dushanbe hosted the 19th session of the Council of Heads of Supreme Audit Bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) via videoconference.
The session was attended by delegations from Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee.
The symbol transfer of the Council’s Chairman for the next period took place from the Chairman of the Russian Accounts Chamber Alexei Kudrin to the Chairman of the Tajik Accounts Chamber Karakhon Chillazoda.
The Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Mikhail Myskin informed the participants about the events dedicated to CIS’ 30th anniversary, as well as the documents on cooperation in the financial and economic sphere recently adopted by CIS’ highest bodies. He also noted that further development of interaction in the field of state financial control in the CIS space will make it possible to effectively use the accumulated experience, receive a significant return from the measures implemented by the Council, and improve the mechanisms of interaction between the supreme bodies of state control and audit.
The thematic part of the session focused on the role of Supreme Audit Bodies in achieving sustainable development goals in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Council members presented detailed information on the results of the activities of member states in this area.
Reports on the activities of the Working Group on the development of standards for auditing and the Council Secretariat on the work done over the past period were also heard. The decision to admit the Accounts Chamber of Uzbekistan to the Council was passed.
Based on the results of the discussions, the corresponding decisions and the resolution of the 19th session were adopted.
The session also approved the work plan for the period between the 19th and 20th sessions.
The next session will be held in the Kyrgyz Republic.
