Joint Statement of the Tajik and Kyrgyz Governmental Delegations on Border Delimitation and Demarcation

DUSHANBE, 01.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today in Batken of the Kyrgyz Republic, a regular meeting of the Tajik and Kyrgyz governmental delegations on delimitation and demarcation of the state border was held under the leadership of the Chairmen of the State Committees for National Security of both countries Saimumin Yatimov and Kamchybek Tashiev.
Along with the discussion of the situation in the border areas, both parties noted their sorrow over what had happened in the border areas, and expressed condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.
The parties agreed on the immediate return of military equipment to their places of permanent deployment.
The parties had a thorough exchange of views on the issue of delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
The topographic working groups were instructed to start describing the state border in the remaining sections as soon as possible.
Referring to the ancient history of the fraternal peoples, they firmly declared their readiness to resolve all existing border issues in the spirit of mutual understanding and trust.
