DUSHANBE, 22.06.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On June 21, 2021, at 7:00 pm, an armed group of the Taliban attacked the Sherkhan-Bandar Border Commissariat in Kunduz Province, Afghanistan, reports the Tajik Border Troops Press Center.
As a result of the armed clashes, which lasted until 09:00 am on June 22, 134 servicemen of the Afghan government forces could not resist and in order to save themselves were forced to cross the state border through the security zone of the 3rd and 4th checkpoints of the «Panj» border detachment and flee in the direction of Tajikistan.
Tajik border guards were forced to allow forced refugees into Tajikistan, taking into account the humanitarian spirit and neighborly values. Among the Afghan servicemen, 4 wounded and 1 killed.
The situation on the Tajik-Afghan border in this area is assessed as difficult, and the total number of Afghan servicemen wounded, killed or taken prisoner by the Taliban in Sherkhan-Bandar reaches 100.
According to confirmed reports, armed clashes between government forces and the Taliban have been going on for the past ten days in four provinces of Afghanistan bordering Tajikistan. As a result, Chahi Ab, Yangi Qala, Darkad, Dashti Qala, Khoja Ghor districts of Takhar province, Dashti Archi, Imam Sahib and Qalai Zol districts of Kunduz province, and two checkpoints, Sherkhan Bandar and Kokul, fell to the Taliban.
