Tajikistan Rises in Global Peace Index

DUSHANBE, 18.06.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – According to the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), Tajikistan ranks 97th out of 163 in the 2021 Global Peace Index.
According to the report Global Peace Index, over the year Tajikistan has risen by 10 positions at once.
According to analysts, Tajikistan is in the group of countries with an average level of peacefulness. This group includes Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan.
North Korea, Venezuela, Sudan, Russia, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan are at the bottom of the list of 163 countries.
The most peaceful country is still Iceland. The ten quietest countries also include New Zealand, Denmark, Portugal, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Czech Republic, Canada, Singapore and Japan.
An increase in the index of peacefulness was recorded in 87 countries, a deterioration in 73. In general, the Global Peace Index worsened by 0.07 percent.
This index takes into account such factors as the level of social cohesion, respect for human rights, political and economic stability, the number of prisoners, the level of terrorist threat, defense spending and the participation of the country in hostilities.
In the Global Peace Index, which is published annually by the Australian Institute of Economics and Peace, in 2018 Tajikistan was in 117th place, in 2019 in 105th and in 2020 in 107th place.
According to analysts, Tajikistan entered the list of states with a fairly reliable level of security.
