DUSHANBE, 16.07.2021. (NIAT Khovar) – “The state border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan is very important not only for our country, but also for the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the European Union (EU) as it acts as a buffer zone,” said President Emomali Rahmon at a meeting with the servicemen of the Hamadoni border detachment.
According to him, by protecting the borders of Tajikistan, border guards also significantly contribute to ensuring the security of countries and other regions of the planet from threats and challenges of the modern world, including terrorism and extremism, illegal arms and drugs trafficking, as well as other types of transnational organized crime.
This shared section of the state border has a length of more than 1400 kilometers and consists mainly of difficult and impassable terrain.
While considering the enormous importance of this issue, the government of Tajikistan has implemented many measures to create the necessary material and technical base and has trained specialists and highly qualified personnel.
