Vaccination Campaign in Dushanbe Completed by 77%

DUSHANBE, 19.08.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Vaccination against COVID-19 in Dushanbe has reached 77% of the planned level.
As of August 17, 1,755,958 people or 29.5% of the adult population have been vaccinated in Tajikistan. More than 212,000 citizens received the second dose of the vaccine.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, with the consistent effort of the government to protect the population from this disease and practical measures taken in this direction, 4,160,740 doses of the vaccine have so far been imported into the country.
According to the decision of the Republican COVID-19 Prevention Commission, vaccination is mandatory for citizens over 18 years old.
The vaccine is provided to the citizens free of charge.
According to field experts, at present, vaccines and preventive measures, including wearing medical protective masks, regular hand washing, and maintaining social distance are the main means of reducing the disease.
According to official statistics, compared to the beginning of the month, only a few cases of infections have been recorded in Tajikistan in recent days. Over the past day, 52 new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection have been registered in Tajikistan.
Since April 30, 2020 until August 18, 16,275 cases of COVID-19 infections have been registered, of which 15,972 people (98.1%) have been cured. Also, 124 people died due to this disease.
