Dushanbe Hosts Intersession Meeting of the Consultative Council on Investment Climate Improving

DUSHANBE, 12.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, Dushanbe hosted the third intersession meeting of the Consultative Council under the President of Tajikistan on improving the investment climate, which was chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Davlatali Said.
The meeting was attended by members of the Consultative Council, heads and officials of ministries and departments, representatives of the private sector, and development partners. The participants discussed the results of monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the second remote meeting and the progress of the decisions of the 21st meeting of the Consultative Council.
Said noted that during the years of independence, per President Emomali Rahmon’s initiative, fundamental reforms have been carried out in the field of improving the investment climate and developing the private business sector, which are yielding noticeable results.
“In the direction of the accelerated industrialization of the country, declared the fourth strategic goal, all the necessary measures are being taken to implement it. In particular, the Program of Accelerated Industrialization of Tajikistan for 2020-2025, which was adopted by a governmental decree in May 2020, is being implemented in stages,” he noted.
The officials emphasized that Tajikistan, as a developing country, has real foundations for the development of light industry, production of building materials, processing of agricultural products, mining industry, and on the basis of all these, for the development of national production.
“In order to develop the industrial sector, programs, strategies, and action plans have been adopted, including an action plan to improve the investment climate in the industrial sector for 2021-2023, as a result of which the industry’s contribution to the gross domestic product is constantly increasing,” Said said.
The Executive Secretary of the Council, Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management Sadi Kodirzoda, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir, UNDP Resident Representative Pratibha Mehta, EBRD Resident Representative, also spoke during the meeting and noted the importance of the investment climate in Tajikistan and the contribution of partners to the development of the Tajik economy.
The First Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the heads of ministries and departments, administrations of cities and districts need to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the orders of the government, decisions of meetings, and orders of the Consultative Council in the field of entrepreneurship and investment.
Following the meeting, taking into account the proposals, appropriate instructions were given.
