MIA Denies Information About the Alleged Creation of a Chinese Military Base in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 30.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The information about the alleged creation of a Chinese military base in Tajikistan is not true and this issue is not on the agenda of bilateral relations, reports the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As part of the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Public Security of the China, there is a plan to conduct joint tactical exercises between the Tajik and Chinese law enforcement agencies on the existing infrastructure of the Special Rapid Response Unit of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime in GBAO, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
They also inform that all necessary equipment and expenses during the joint exercise will be provided and covered by China.
Yesterday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry also denied reports about the construction of a base in Tajikistan.
“I can confidently tell you that China does not have any military base in Central Asia,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a briefing when asked to comment on the reports about the formation of a Chinese military base.
